PDFs! And ebooks!

We're pleased to announce that all the Round 3 stories are now available for download at the TBB website! OK, it took a little while....

This year there are several formats available:
  • PDF with one column, for your on- (or off-) line reading pleasure
  • PDF with two columns, for better printing, in both 8.5x11 and A4 page sizes
  • .mobi
  • .epub

As for those last two... I'm still figuring out Calibre, and I didn't have time to look at all the files, so it's quite possible they're not going to be perfect. We're pretty much shooting for readable at this point. If you download either of those and have suggestions for improvement, please let me know--I can upload new versions easily enough if it's worth it, and I'd love to do things better next round. Right now, though, I want to get them out there.

And if you'd like an e-book format other than .mobi or .epub, please comment here and let us know why. I think those two formats cover pretty much all e-readers, but it's possible I'm missing something, given how ridiculously complicated the whole subject is.

possible website issue

It's 10pm Tuesday in Chicago, and the TBB website appears to be having issues. I'm looking into it. Meanwhile, we apologize for any problems you're running into.

(Rotten timing, website.)

[ETA: OK, right now it looks like it's working again. Hopefully that was just a brief glitch. Any problems, please do let us know.]

We're live!!!!

TARDIS Big Bang 3 is now live!

Thanks to all the authors and artists who helped make this a fantastic experience! We couldn't have done it without you!

A few things...

about the website

This year the website was transformed into a database application. It should be transparent, but there's always the chance that something slipped by. If you notice any problems at all, please let us know at tardis.bigbang @ gmail.com

As usual, our feedback LJ is tardisbigbang. We suggest that you find your entry--it's linked all over the place on the website--and track it using "Track This" or the little thumbtack button so you'll be notified of comments. Let us know if you see any bad links in the feedback entries; they're always error-prone. Or if you have questions about how this works.

[ETA: We're turning off comment notifications from the feedback journal to the tardis.bigbang email before we get deluged, so if there's anything that needs our attention, please drop us a note. Thanks!]

posting stories/art elsewhere

Now that the site is live, you're welcome to post your work wherever you want. Please do link back to the TARDIS Big Bang: http://www.tardisbigbang.com/. If you want to upload your story to Archive of Our Own, you can put it in collection TARDIS Big Bang, subcollection TARDIS Big Bang Round 3. Let us know if you run into any trouble.

We're doing e-books this year, I swear. Just trying to figure out how, exactly. If there's a particular format you'd like to see, please comment here. amothea, if you see this, expect an e-mail later this week....

Just so you know, we're planning on the website's going live on Monday. Yay! Exact time to be determined; we're still getting our schedules coordinated. It's looking like midday in the US / evening in the UK / early Tuesday morning in Australia, but that might change a bit.

Once the website is live, you're welcome to post your story or art wherever you want. We'll get a collection set up on AO3 before Monday for anyone who wants to upload there. (And if you'd like an AO3 invite, please comment here with the e-mail address you'd like it sent to, and we'll see if we can get some more.)

Two more days! We hope you're as excited as we are!

spoilery artwork

It's just occurred to me that some of the artwork should probably be taken off the story index pages if it contains spoilers for the story. So, artists: If any of your art contains spoilers, could you point me to those pieces? I'll leave them up on the art page, but I'll make it easier for readers to avoid them before they get to the appropriate point in the story.

(And if you're wondering, it's looking like the website will be going live sometime next week, depending when the last bits come in. Once the website is live you're welcome to post your story/art wherever you'd like.)

Volcano Day!

Yes, today is the deadline, and things are looking good. We've already got half the stories in and 70% of the art, which is fantastic.

I think I've now replied to everyone who's submitted either art or a final draft, so if you've sent something but haven't gotten a response, please drop us a line at tardis.bigbang @ gmail.com.

Tomorrow morning we'll start chasing down anyone we haven't heard from. If you're not going to be able to get something in tonight, please feel free to e-mail us before we e-mail you. We promise, we won't yell or make you feel guilty; we just want to know what's going on.

Thanks, everyone! And good luck to all y'all who are still working!

Just FYI, I'm behind in replying to the submissions that we've got in so far, so if you sent something but haven't heard back, don't panic. I'll try to get back to everyone tomorrow.

Two more days! Don't forget to check the submission guidelines for writers and for artists. And if you're running into trouble, please get in touch and let us know what's going on.

Good luck!

Sorry for all the confusion! I thought we'd posted the schedule, but I think it slipped by us. Your mods apologize for their flakiness.

Final drafts and art are due next Sunday, 18 July. Don't panic! Yet!

The web site will go live in early August--exact date to be determined when we see how things come in.

Submission guidelines for writers are here.

Submission guidelines for artists are here.

(They're last year's guidelines, but I don't have any changes, so we'll just go with them.)

Any questions/concerns, please drop the mods a note at tardis.bigbang @ gmail.com.

Good luck!

Match ups!

All art assignments have now been sent out!

As we all know, things go wrong in the best-regulated systems, so if you haven't received an email, or there are any problems at all with assignments, please let me know ASAP. The sooner I know, the better, so don't be shy about speaking up!

Authors, we hope the editing is going well, and as ever, keep us posted on situations as they arise.

Artists, have fun with your stories, and if you get done quickly and want another, just let us know and I'm sure we can oblige!

Enjoy, everybody!
